This practical lesson turns the Scorecard walkthrough from Lesson 1.3 into a written, screenshot-led guide you can follow at your own pace. You work through the tool on the built-in example, then apply the rubric to a page you own and save your first baseline.
What this lesson covers
- Each of the six steps in the Scorecard, with what you should see at every one
- How to read the verdict, gauge, dimension cards and fix list
- Saving and comparing scorecards
- Troubleshooting the four most common problems
- A by-hand scoring exercise for three of the five dimensions
- Keeping the baseline file the rest of the course depends on
The Scorecard runs entirely in the browser and makes no API calls, so the whole walkthrough costs nothing and needs no key. Each step is shown with a screenshot from the real tool and a short “what you should see” check, so you can confirm you are in the right place before moving on: the 5/15 verdict on the demo site, the five evenly weak bars of the gauge, the Clarity card with its red meta-description row, and the fix list headed by the Knowledge Graph node for the brand.
The exercise asks you to score one commercially important page by hand on Clarity, Coverage and Consistency, using the questions and evidence the rubric defines, and to leave Connection and Corroboration until Module 3 provides the data. The lesson explains why that saved file matters more than anything else in the exercise: without a baseline there is an after and no before, and the comparison at the end of the course depends on it.
The lesson also covers what to do when the tool does not behave as expected: an upload that does nothing because the CSV is not one the Scorecard recognises, a score that appears for Clarity alone because only one file was loaded, a save button that reports nothing to save, and a comparison that fails because a CSV was chosen instead of a saved scorecard.
This practical completes Module 1, Entity Foundations for Auditors, in The AI-powered Entity Audit, and leads into Module 2, where the data behind the scorecard is produced from your own site. It suits learners who prefer to follow a tool step by step in writing, and anyone who wants their first baseline saved before the diagnostic work begins.
